The archetypal Hollywood narrative manifests the demystification and dominance of Judy and Madeline by othering and projecting the male fantasy to alter the identities of the women in Hitchcock's 1958 Vertigo.
However we feel that the regenerative green motifs throughout the film actually alludes to the duality and divinity of women. Kim Novak's double role of both Judy and Madeline ultimately exemplifies the woman's ability to transcend and reinvent in a phallocentric world.
